Terms of Service

Last updated: April 5, 2026

1. Agreement

By accessing or using ContextSnip (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. ContextSnip is operated from Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

2. Description of Service

ContextSnip is a desktop application that records your screen, tracks clicks, extracts key frames, transcribes audio locally, and outputs structured markdown for use with AI assistants. All capture processing occurs on your local device.

3. Eligibility and access

You must be at least 16 years old to use ContextSnip. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these terms.

Account creation is currently invite-gated. You need a valid invite code to sign up. We reserve the right to change access requirements at any time.

4. User accounts

You may create an account using email/password or Google OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at info@contextsnip.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

We may pause, suspend, or revoke your account if you violate these terms or at our discretion. A paused account retains data but cannot use the desktop app. A revoked account is permanently deactivated.

5. Free trial and subscriptions

New accounts receive a 30-day free trial starting from the date of invite acceptance. No credit card is required for the trial.

After the trial, continued use requires a paid subscription:

  • Monthly: $10/month, billed monthly.
  • Yearly: $96/year ($8/month, billed annually).

Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period. You will be charged via the payment method on file with Stripe.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel your subscription at any time through the customer portal (accessible from your dashboard). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you retain access until then.

We do not offer pro-rated refunds for partial billing periods. If you believe you were charged in error, contact info@contextsnip.com and we will review your case.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to record content you do not have the right to capture (e.g., copyrighted material, private conversations without consent).
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the application beyond what is permitted by applicable law.
  • Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the Service without written permission.
  • Share, transfer, or sell invite codes.
  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable Dutch, EU, or local laws.

8. Intellectual property

ContextSnip, its logo, and all associated materials are the intellectual property of ContextSnip. You retain full ownership of any content you create using the Service (recordings, frames, transcriptions, markdown output).

9. Local processing and your data

All screen capture data is processed locally on your device. We have no access to your recordings, frames, or transcriptions. You are solely responsible for the content you capture and how you share the generated output. See our Privacy Policy for details on what data we do collect.

10. Availability and updates

We aim to keep the Service available and up to date but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The desktop app checks for updates on launch and may prompt you to install new versions. Features may change between versions.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch and EU law, ContextSnip is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms. On termination, your locally stored data remains on your device. We have no ability to access or delete it.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes will be submitted to the competent courts in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, without prejudice to your rights as an EU consumer to bring proceedings in your local courts.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as our product evolves. Material changes will be communicated via the website or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
